A Few Comments from our Guests:
The Bar is Raised My husband and I are used to staying at dive resorts, but thought we would try Beachcomber Villas on this Bonaire trip. While still allowing us the convenience of a kitchen and comfortable room, the hospitality we received at Beachcomber Villas was above and beyond. We had a choice of leaving our dive gear at Dive Friends Bonaire, or at the villa which was well set up with rinse tank, hoses to rinse off and racks to dry the gear as well as a locked storage compartment. Just off the villa is the Cliff dive site, perfect for afternoon and night dives. We have had experience when booking on the internet, even in well known resorts, where rooms are far from being as advertised. This was definitely not the case at Beachcomber Villas, and the cleanliness, the room, kitchen, terrace and beach location exceeded our expectations. Our hosts usually appeared when we were heading out or returning from diving, helping unload and rinse and store equipment, part of their 'raising the bar' service. It was much more friendly than a dive resort and a lot less walking to retrieve and leave dive gear. There is ample parking at the back right next to the dive storage area. I highly recommend this beautiful, comfortable, friendly villa and know that it will be our first choice from now on when we visit Bonaire. Alberta, Canada, April 2012 Beachcomber vacation My wife and I have been coming to Bonaire for years, and stayed at the Plaza Resort on previous occasions. We decided to try Beachcomber and are so glad we did. Tim and Leanne were both gracious hosts, but also extremely attentive. North Carolina, USA, March 2012 It just doesn't get any better than this!!! We have been to Hawaii 6 times, and the Virgin Islands 4, and we always stay with Home Away owners like this. This is the nicest unit we have encountered, everything is exactly as advertised, and the unit is designed for comfort and convenience. Read the other reviews and you will see that it is perfect in every conceivable way, especially for divers and snorkelers. (In the past we have had to deal with units with a microwave with only 2 functioning buttons, or 2 bent forks and a spoon as the entire silverware drawer), but not Beachcomber, everything you need is right there, and all like new! Upon arrival, you are greeted by 2 smiling faces, brimming with unbridled enthusiasm and a committed desire to make your vacation as amazing as they possibly can! As you go through your life, you can consider yourself very fortunate indeed, if you are lucky enough to cross paths with someone as special as Tim and Leanne! To have them as your hosts is an honor and a privilege that we are grateful to have experienced! Leanne is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside, and every encounter with her left me in awe of her warmth, as well as her professionalism, as she provides you with every shred of information you could possibly need, before you need it, and as thorough as it could be. We shopped in an all Dutch supermarket, and thought we were buying microwave cheeseburgers that ended up being something we still don't know what they were. Leanne went to the store, searched, and found us some American food that would be perfect for us, and bought us some to try out for ourselves. Tim has been diving for 39 years, although he must have started in diapers, because he doesn't even look 39! He has a system for handling your gear that is perfectly organized, and you will not find anywhere else! He is always there to help you clean and stow your equipment, and if is there is a way he can help you, he is already doing it before you could ask. I accidentally forgot to put away our wetsuits one night, and I was apologizing to him, when he stopped me abruptly and said, if there is something I can do to give you 5 more minutes of vacation, it will make my day! That's the kind of people you are dealing with! They derive pleasure from seeing that you are enjoying yourself! We arrived with smiles and handshakes, and left with hugs and a tear in our eye! The villa is just lovely and immaculate, and it fit the description accurately. There was a dive site and snorkeling site right in front of the villa, and it was awesome. The first week we had friends in the other villa, and it was so great to share the large open deck. Great place for two couples to have privacy plus time together. The view was amazing with beautiful sunsets. The owners were the most accommodating people I've ever dealt with anywhere. We just returned from a fantastic 3 week holiday stay with Tim & Leanne at Beachcomber Villas. Wow! This was our 8th visit to Bonaire, and by far our most enjoyable. Since we started visiting the island in 1997 we’ve enjoyed searching for the idyllic “couples” property and experience. We finally found our perfect fit at Beachcomber Villas. The descriptions and photos are just as advertised. The oceanfront location is gorgeous and convenient to diving, shopping, and dining. Several well-known dive operations are located nearby, including one on-site in the property complex. The property itself is newly renovated and immaculately maintained. The rooms are bright, freshly painted, and look out over the beautiful Caribbean Sea. The friendly hosts reside on-site in the lower level and really are committed to “Raising the bar for vacation rentals in Bonaire”. Prior to creating Beachcomber Villas, Tim & Leanne were already seasoned dive travelers. They selected this location, built the guest accommodations, and operate this oceanfront property with their own travel experiences and expectations in mind. That’s why the apartments offer the extra little touches, like the well-appointed kitchen and comfortable beds, which we’ve never experienced in Bonaire previously. (The Beachcomber Villas beds are the best we’ve ever slept on in Bonaire!) Highlights from our stay include: - Enjoying multiple shore dives on “Cliff”, the beautiful house reef, accessed directly from the property. - Observing pods of dolphins swim by, while enjoying morning coffee on our apartment terrace. - Watching the sunsets each evening on the seaside terrace, while enjoying cocktails and sharing stories with the hosts and other guests. - Ringing in the New Year on the seaside terrace while watching fireworks up and down the waterfront. - Developing new friendships with our hosts, Tim & Leanne, and sharing the holidays with them. - Sleeping in that super-comfortable bed! Very well set up for divers and snorkelers. The sunset views from the patio are fantastic. Great view of Klein Bonaire. The entire villa is very well maintained and clean. The beds are comfortable and the pillows and linens are nice. The kitchen is nicely equipped. The owners live on site and are extremely helpful. They genuinely care about their property and are very sincere in wanting their guests stay to be great! We really enjoyed this laid back setting versus the resorts. I would definitely recommend this property. Lots of great restaurants on the island - sunset grill was my favorite and very close to the villa. Drift snorkel Klein Bonaire. It is fantastic. We took the fairy for $17. It was the best snorkeling we have ever done. We did a sunset sail with Compass - very nice. Also did a glass bottom boat tour. Do the donkey sanctuary - the whole place is run by volunteers. It's really worth your time. Everybody on the island notably friendly. Everyone we encountered was nice, friendly and helpful. A library of books about diving and reef fish identification that is provided for guests was an awesome resource to have as well. We've just returned from a two week holiday on Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao and without a shadow of a doubt the best part was 6 days and nights staying with Tim and Leanne at Beachcomber. The attention to detail is exceptional from start to finish. I was very impressed with the whole booking procedure and the volume of information provided prior to arrival including car rental comparison guide, dive/snorkel packages, detailed directions and best of all a grocery shopping list - such a simple thing but something that every rental worth its salt should offer especially if you are flying in late when you can't get to a supermarket to pickup breakfast items. The apartments are modern, tastefully decorated and as per the photos. The kitchen is very well equipped and basics such as sugar, salt, pepper, spices etc are provided which is great because who needs to buy a kilo of sugar when you're only there for 6 days. Oh and the apartment is spotless, absolutely everything is sparkly clean which is not the norm for most vacation rentals. Each apartment backs out onto a balcony with stunning views of Klein Bonaire and a bbq which unfortunately we didn't get a chance to utilise. The apartments have everything you could possibly need - A/C, cable TV, library, great kit room, wifi, safe, ipod dock, phone, beach towels, blender, complimentary popcorn - you name it it's all there. The library upstairs has lots of useful books as well as an excellent guide included in each apartment and Tim and Leanne can also provide great recommendations for everything and help with making reservations for boats, restaurants etc. Everything you could need is close by,dive shop is a few meters down the road, supermarket and cafes/restaurants all within walking distance although I would recommend a hire car so you can experience the beauty of the whole island. The reef in front of the villa is a fantastic site but then again everywhere on Bonaire is great for snorkeling and diving. Every evening is spent on the terrace with Tim and Leanne and other guests enjoying a few drinks and the beautiful sunset. Staying at beachcomber is like staying with family but with 5* hotel concierge. As the title says this is the best vacation rental I've ever stayed at and I want to go back. We travel to Bonaire to dive, and Leanne & Tim's place is perfect for divers/snorkelers: Secure, for people and gear Clean & Comfortable Easy access to the water A picnic table to gear-up Clean rinse for gear Outdoor showers Drying racks Absolutely beautiful well-appointed accommodations and did I mention Tim & Leanne are two of the nicest folks around? Leanne & Tim are diver-travelers. They've used their experiences to set up Beachcomber Villas. All the little touches are taken care of. Need a little olive oil and spices for that chicken you're going to grill? Look in the rack. How about a tupperware container to store the leftover Pasa Bon? Look under the counter. A corkscrew or bottle opener? There are 2 in the top drawer (with all the barbecue utensils). Dishwashing soap? Yep, under the sink. Dish towels? Paper on the roller, cloth in the second drawer. Usually we stop at Cultimara/Warehouse on our way in (we use the PM flight from ATL) to load up on staples (paper products, soap, spices, beer, beer, beer). At Beachcomber, check in with Tim & Leanne first, THEN go get what you want (beer, beer, beer, sandwich stuff etc.). As far as the diving/dive ops: Dive Friends is the dive partner for Beachcomber Villas and is very convenient right there on the Oasis property. There are also stores downtown and at Port Bonaire (south). You can pick up/drop off tanks at any of the 3 locations. Nitrox ran 31%+, fills were 3200-3400, o-rings about like all the other dive ops. Clean convenient rinse tanks at Oasis if you want to use them. 0830-1630 at Oasis. A great night dive is directly off Beachcomber Villas - swim with the tarpon. Back to Beachcomber Villas and Leanne & Tim... I can't say enough good things about them and their home. If you want reservations at the hot new restaurant ("At Sea"), or want to arrange any other sort of outing on the island, see Leanne. She'll take care of it. One (or maybe several) nights I hung our stuff to dry (on the convenient, behind-locked-gates drying racks), went to dinner, sorta had a couple of drinks and forgot about it. Late that particular night thunder woke me up I remembered the gear and went racing down to move it inside. Tim had beaten me to it. I could go on and on. They really have raised the bar. What a great place to stay. Leanne and Tim (Dynamic Duo) the owner are amazing people. From the 1st interaction via e-mail to our departure from Bonaire they were so helpful in everyway. The 1 bedroom upstairs unit we stayed in was clean and had so many of the little things that you always wish you had when staying in a condo. However the dynamic duo are really what makes staying their really special. The villa is located ocean front with great views from the upstairs deck which overlook the “Cliff buoy” the house reef just North of Buddy’s. This place is dialed in for divers. Hopefully this info helps someone. …” This was part of our guests Trip Report as posted on an online scuba diving forum community Texas, USA, July 2011 Welcoming, quiet getaway My wife and I stayed at Beachcomber Villas the week of Aug. 13-20 after booking this trip just a couple days before. Owners Leanne and Tim were very friendly and helpful and they made our stay there very pleasant. We're both scuba divers, and it was nice to have gear storage and a rinse tank right on the property. It was a short walk from/through the property to the dive entry point for the Cliff (the house reef). After the dive, Tim was usually there to help us with our gear to rinse and hang it. We stayed in the two-bed apartment on the second floor, and this has a large shared balcony with a grill, lounge shares, a sitting table, and a great view of the ocean. We spent several nights watching the sunset from there. Tim and Leanne have put a lot of effort into making this property clean, comfortable, and safe. We were very happy with our choice. The whole week we were there, it only rained a couple of times at night. The days were very hot, so we did a lot of diving getting tanks from the nearby Dive Friends dive shop. At the Hamlet Oasis property (of which Beachcomber is a part of), we had access to a nice, cooling swimming pool, which we used several times. We ate lunch twice at the over-the-water bar downtown with food furnished by Zeezicht across the street once getting a steak sub and the other getting a grilled chicken sub. Both times the food was tasty. We had a dinner at City Cafe, and that was good, too, but a bit pricey. We had another sandwich at Elle's, but that was essentially tasteless and pricey for what we got. Our favorite meal - by far - was pizza at Pasa Bon Pizza. Not only was it the best pizza I've ever had, the prices were reasonable, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. All-in-all, when I go back to Bonaire, I hope Beachcomber Villas will be available. Wisconsin, USA, August 2011 A family-friendly, luxurious place to stay We were awestruck by the level of attention to detail in this luxurious apartment. The owners have furnished and decorated this apartment with as much love as their own home. Not only that: they attended to our every need, helping with every aspect of our holiday, from obtaining car rental deals to sorting out diving deals and helping us obtain a Dutch-speaking babysitter. We felt like royalty in their friendly and capable company! The apartment itself was beautifully furnished and exceptionally clean, and the kitchen was kitted out with high-quality equipment. We stood on the large balcony every morning to enjoy an uninterrupted view of the sea over to Klein Bonaire. The swimming pool, within half a minute's walk of the apartment, was a pleasure to use, with very friendly people all around. When we felt like reading a book, we simply stepped into the corridor to browse through the large library of novels and guides to the dive sites of Bonaire. The kit room was fully furnished for the storage of diving equipment, and the owners did not hesitate to help with our diving needs. This was an amazing place to stay. We can't wait to return. We highly recommend it to visitors. London, UK, July 2011 Delightful Accommodations in Bonaire My husband and I spent a week at this location recently and found it to be all that we expected and more. It is a delightfully simple yet charming apartment with an awe inspiring view. The owners are a very friendly couple who truly cannot do enough for you. It is obvious that they seek to make every guest's stay with them, the best possible experience. In the course of our communication with them when booking the apartment, we mentioned that were celebrating a milestone anniversary and upon our arrival we found a pitcher of Rum Punch (our favorite) awaiting us in the fridge. Another day it was chocolate chip cookies and later in the week we found a tray of cheese and crackers with another pitcher of Rum Punch to enjoy while watching the sunset. Because they live on the premises, they were available to answer any questions or provide guidance and recommendations. They were also willing to assist with booking any excursions. With regard to the unit itself, everything was clean and in good working order. We found it had everything we needed or if we asked for something it was provided almost immediately. The location was convenient if you have a vehicle. It was a very short drive to the town of Kralendijk and most other places we traveled around the island. It is within walking distance to some of the best known dive resorts with nice restaurants and friendly bars. The direct access to the water was also a plus - particularly if you snorkel or dive (which if you don't when on Bonaire you should have your head examined!). This facility provides a room for cleaning and drying your equipment and occasionally the owners even offered to help rinse our snorkel gear when we returned from a long day of snorkeling. There is a pool available within their complex a very short walk from the unit which felt good sometimes when we needed a break from the salt water. In general, I would highly recommend this accommodation for travelers to Bonaire who want something more personal than a large resort and appreciate the independence afforded by your own cooking facilities. The helpfulness and friendliness of the owners/hosts is the icing on the cake! Pennsylvania, USA, July 2011 Loved it! It was the best place ever! Leanne and Tim made us feel right at home. Always there to cater to our every need. Excellent value for the price, beautiful ocean views every morning, everything you need is right there! All utensils are high quality, and if you find that something's missing, Tim and Leanne will gladly get it for you. They actually got us a bigger frying pan :) They've also been very helpful with any question I had. And the kids just LOVED the pool! I highly recommend this villa to everyone going to Bonaire. I've already planned my return and will be staying there again. Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, July 2011 WOW WOW and WOW This place blew me and my GF away. For the accommodations and location, the price was hard to believe. This place is truly ocean front (we could see it from our bedroom at the back of the house). The owners are divers and the place is set up very well for such activities. You do not have to worry about a place that does not understand a diver’s wants and needs. I have no reservations recommending this place to anyone. The location, accommodations, and owners made this a truly special place. Have confidence booking it. North Carolina, USA, June 2011 My May 2011 Beachcombers Villas is a fabulous, peaceful, quiet and quaint ocean front property. The diving is spectacular in the 82 locations in Bonaire and beautiful in front of Beachcombers Villa. The location is perfectly situated in Bonaire and the rooms are ideal for divers and other travelers. It has easy access to everything including peaceful romantic walks along the ocean side. Restaurants and grocery stores are conveniently close by. The balcony is extremely large and spacious that you feel you have your own home facing the ocean. :) The kitchen, bathroom and bedroom areas are spacious and very comfortable. The colors used in the home are warm and inviting. You really do feel it’s your own home situated in the perfect location. :) The villa is set up perfectly for divers to use a rinse tanks and a storage locker room with a dryer for all your diving equipment that is safely locked up. The dive shops are just around the corner for any tanks or equipment that you need. The quality, service and orientation of your stay adds to an enjoyable stay at Beachcombers Villas. The host and hostess have positive, helpful and warm dispositions. You’re in great hands with this couple and as they are diving experts themselves :) You will not be disappointed with your stay. If the Beauty of Bonaire doesn't reel you in, staying at the Beach Combers Villas will!! The apartment is spacious, clean, has everything you need and the views from the large balcony will leave you in awe. We are divers and the convenience and ease of shore diving is just a step away. The diving is spectacular! Rinsing the gear was easy and convenient as our hosts have everything you need...including a locked room to store gear overnight. We would recommend staying here 110%. Our next trip is booked and our stay will be at the Beach Combers Villas! Illinois, USA, May 2011 Dive Heaven in Bonaire :) Tim and Leann are the owners and make you feel right at home. They are well traveled as are my boyfriend and I and have really thought of everything you may need. The kitchen is well stocked, plenty of closet space, large safe in room. The apartment is VERY clean. Parking is not a problem, plenty of room. Rinsing your dive gear and storage is not a problem, very secure. Our last day we cleaned our gear and left it out to dry all day, Tim and Leann were home and would bring in our stuff it it started to rain. They treat our gear as it would be their own. Leann even bought me a cake when she found out the night before that it was my birthday! They are a very nice couple and will be returning there when we are in Bonaire. Tim also has lots of good dive stories. We stayed in the 2 bed apt. because the 1 bed was already booked. We saw the other apt. on the last day and it is big also. I would stay on either side. The house is centrally located and very convenient. Nice place on the water, you can see Klein Bonaire across the water. We stayed for 2 weeks and I would highly recommend this place! Missouri, USA, April 2011 Honeymooner's Paradise! My husband and I stayed here on our extended honeymoon, and we loved every minute of it. The condo was SPOTLESS, with a white beachy decor and bright windows, making it the perfect place to come home to after a long day of diving. There wasn't a mosquito in the place, which was a welcome change for Bonaire, and even the patio out front was relatively mosquito free. Everything was well thought out and measuring up to top-notch western standards -- from the quality mattress to the sparkling, good water pressure bathroom. Tim & Leanne are amazing hosts! They are very knowledgeable about the area -- restaurants, dive shops, dive sites - everything. Tim is a very experienced diver and he even cleaned out our gear at the end of the trip when we asked for storage tips. Leanne provided everything we could possibly want in the kitchen, including a full welcome package and a bottle of wine to enjoy. She even lent us their cooler when we told them we were going for a picnic on Klein Bonaire. We had to return our rental car for one weekend, and Tim drove us everywhere we wanted to go. My husband and I discussed what they could have possibly done to improve our experience, and we couldn't think of a single thing! We will be returning as soon as we can. Thanks! Alberta, Canada, April 2011 Heaven! Like staying at home Impeccable accommodations, brand new and thoroughly planned by owners for divers and tourists. Private parking, excellent shore diving and snorkeling steps from the back yard, dive gear rinse and storage facilities. This villa is just outside the city center, steps away from Buddy Dive and Capt Don's Habitat resorts making it a breeze for air tank refills. There is event a Dive Friend location a few houses away if you wish to do boat dives. Convenient AB car rental location steps away, supermarket, deli and stores. A very short walk or drive to the many restaurants Bonaire has to offer and right in the middle of the fabulous shore dive sites. Most are just a 10 min drive at most. From the moment we arrived our hosts made us feel right at home. Impeccable brand new and fully equipped apartment: ours had 2 double beds to sleep four (VERY comfortable mattress), in room safe, walk-in closet, bathroom with shower and vanity, sitting area, flat screen TV with tons of channels, wifi, great fully equipped eat-in kitchen and a fabulous huge terrasse with lawn furniture, gas BBQ overlooking stunning ocean steps away, great sunset views, surrounded by lush vegetation, beautiful gardens and birds. Snorkeling, diving right in the back yard or for other sites a very short drive a way. Central wall unit A/C very efficient and quiet. Hosts are very friendly, suggest address and sites to dive and see, a very personal touch much more pleasant than the usual resort-attitude found elsewhere. I have no hesitation recommending this villa. You will have a great time. We cannot wait to return ourselves. Quebec, Canada, April 2011 A Slice of Diver's Paradise and an Excellent Value In general, the property is immaculate, the facilities are well thought out, the owners are knowledgeable and charming, and some of best diving in Bonaire is right out the front door. There is a dive instructor onsite and air/nitrox is available just 75 meters away. If you want to go out for dinner or drinks, both Captain Don's and Buddy Dive resorts are a 5 minute walk away. Don't miss meet the Captain night on Mondays at Captain Don's or the Manager's Rum Punch night on Fridays at Buddy Dive. There are also several great restaurants within a few kilometers and a fairly well-stocked grocery store within walking distance. The owners, Tim and Leanne, are quite charming, know the area very well and were a great source of information. They bent over backwards to make sure we had a great time. I completed my PADI open water cert. with Tim. He has excellent qualifications, is very safety conscious, and an excellent instructor. He is courteous, knowledgeable, and always ready to help. I will be doing my advanced open water cert. with him when I return later this year. The diving at the “Cliff” is fantastic, as evidenced by number of boats you see moored out front over the course of the day. Entry and exit to the water is one of easiest I found out of sites I visited on the island. (I dove there 5 times and never got tired of it). It is also a great snorkeling site and my children were in awe of the marine life they found there. The apartments are well-appointed, all the appliances are new, and the air conditioning is more than adequate. I really loved getting up in the morning and walking out onto the large veranda, which is also a great place to watch the sun set. I had a great vacation in Bonaire and it lived up to its reputation as a “Divers Paradise”. I am headed back for 3 weeks later this year and will be staying at this villa for the duration.
